Due to fisheries depletion and the improvements on fishing techniques and tools, the requirement for conservation and control strategies for certain species is becoming more and more important.
In 2004, the Andalucian Fisheries and Agriculture Council initiated a project to deploy a location and activity control system in each of the fishing boats sailing the Andalucian coast. This system allows the location and fishing pattern detection of each ship in a centralized and real time manner. This deployment includes:
- Satellite positioning of vessels.
- Data transfer over GPRS corporate networks.
THE SYSTEM INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS:
Set of Green Boxes (cV) located in the fishing boats.
Intermediary Data Reception Centre (CR) located at the Information centre for the Andalucian Government.
Control Centre (CC) located at the Council’s control body.
CVS transmit location information to the CR via GPRS. This CR is available 24×7, 365 day of the year. This CR aggregates and parses the information and sends it over to the CC.
Web access has been enabled in order to facilitate user remote access to the system.
CVs also include an alarm button as a safety feature that complements current safety systems. This alarm is connected to the 112 Andalucian Emergency Service
